Implementation

Deployment built around Google Admin and shared Chromebooks.

AerieHQ is deployed through managed Chrome policies for student Chromebooks while teachers and administrators use browser dashboards from Windows, Mac, or ChromeOS devices.

1. Prepare Google Admin

  • Identify student OU
  • Force-install the AerieHQ extension
  • Apply managed JSON configuration
  • Apply screen-capture policies to student OU

2. Configure school access

  • Validate license key
  • Set server URL and school domain
  • Confirm shared-device mode
  • Set teacher and admin access

3. Train users

  • Teacher quick-start guide
  • Principal/admin guide
  • Shared Chromebook procedure
  • Roster import template

Standard student OU managed policy fields

Schools should configure the student OU so students do not manually install or configure AerieHQ. The extension should be force-installed and managed by the school.

  • licenseKey
  • serverUrl
  • schoolDomain
  • captureIntervalMs
  • sharedDeviceMode
  • autoConnect
  • autoJoinMode
  • rosterAutoJoin
  • profileRole
  • managedAutoCapture
  • captureMode

Teacher device model

Teachers can use Windows or Mac computers with Chrome. Student screen capture and classroom controls happen through the managed student Chromebook extension, not through the teacher device.

  • Teacher opens browser dashboard
  • Teacher imports class roster
  • Teacher starts class
  • Students join from managed Chromebooks
